In the Seneca language, the mythical turtle is called Hah-nu-nah, while the name for an everyday turtle is ha-no-wa.

In this Retreat here at Sweet Beautiful Waters Peace Sound Chamber we will be in the Mythical space, learning about the Medicine of the Turtle.

In Native American teachings, Turtle is the oldest symbol for planet Earth. It is the personification of goddess energy, and the eternal Mother from which our lives evolve. We are born of the womb of Earth, and to her soil our bodies will return. In honoring the Earth, we are asked by Turtle to be mindful of the cycle of give and take, to give back to the Mother as she has given to us.

Here is how our time will flow:

Friday September 27th: Arrive in Tucson between 4 – 5pm with Limo pick up from the airport if needed

6 pm – 7 pm Dinner will be served

7:30 pm – 9:00 pm Opening ceremonies and teachings

September 28th: Sunrise ceremony and breakfast

8 am – 11 am in the Peace Chamber: 7 Point Empowerment Movement exercise, Chanting and Teachings as well as passing the talking stick

Light refreshments will be served, then we will prepare for our Personal Vision Quest in the Peace Chamber overnight. This time will be a food and water fast.

Here is why we choose to fast: “When a person fasts, his psychic energy begins to speed up, evoking precognitive dreams, premonitions, or instructive visionary experiences. By speeding up the psychic flow of energy, fasting increases the energy of the normal human intelligence, giving birth to new awareness. We can bring our questions and concerns to this sacred space knowing that we are being cared for and held. You can bring drums and rattles if you like.

September 29th: Sunrise ceremony and sweat lodge followed by breakfast and a swim. We will maintain quiet time as we walk the land and write in your journal.

Closing ceremony in the Peace Chamber followed by a Feast.

We will end our time together on Sunday at 4 pm but you are welcome to spend the night and leave Monday morning should that be more convenient for flights out. All food and accommodations are included in the price.
