dragonflyAt times it may seem almost impossible to overcome our own self limiting beliefs!  Especially if we’ve suffered sexual or other abuse earlier in our lives, but we can get good at recognizing when our own self limiting beliefs hold us back because there is just a certain feeling there that is well known by this point.

Maybe you’ve already overcome lots of obstacles and find yourself in a pretty damn good place in your life perhaps even living the life of your dreams.  Still there is work that is calling you out into the world; a business you are growing or some other work that makes your heart sing and you can taste those limiting thoughts on the tip of your mind.  You know they are there.

So, how do we move past them and fulfill what we may feel is our life’s work, how do we find a way to bring our Sacred Medicine out to the world?  We have to live what we teach, we have to get really good support from teachers and other Guides and we have to gather up the courage that got us this far……and go a little further, and a little further.  Courage my Dears…..it is possible!

Tenderness, Fear and Doubt

Holly_Sierra-Madre_Natura-299x214More and more as I contemplate my work on the land here in Tucson and in the Peace Sound Chamber I realize what a profound resource I have in the Peace Chamber.  The Chamber called me and I changed my whole life to answer that call……she continues to call me.

Yesterday a friend and I were talking about my work and about the Chamber and he used the analogy of a baby. When we look at a baby we feel so tender, so loving, so protective – and we want to take good care of that child.  Similarly, he suggested I could look upon the work I am called to do as I would that baby, tenderly.  There was something about that idea that helped me see that I am birthing my work and this work needs to be held and grown with love.

When thoughts come up that stop me, I can take a look and with as much love as I gaze at the child I can look at that thought and inquire about it.  I can simply acknowledge it and move into a place of trust, I can ask where it came from knowing that this thought is just holding me back.  This is not as easy as it seems but the analogy of the Peace Chamber and the Baby can bring that softness to my heart, that tenderness for myself and allow me to move away from ideas that don’t help me to move forward.  The analogy of the Baby and the Chamber may not be the one that brings that feeling of compassion into your heart but find that one that does and use it!

Take some time to feel that gentle tenderness for yourself so you can continue to walk the path you are called to – without fear and doubt.

Yes or No

Years ago, whenever I had to make a decision no matter how big or small I would seek the council of my friends and sometimes family.  I wanted to know what everyone thought about my direction or idea.  After carefully gathering everyone’s opinions I would then consider and sift through them so I could make a decision.

Recently though I’ve come to see there is really an easier way, I go inside and ask God/Great Spirit my question and wait for my answer.  That’s it!

It’s not as simple as it seems and it is as simple as it seems.  In order to truly listen for the answer’s we have to be able to be quiet, maybe even take time out of our schedules to go someplace to meditate and wait on the answers.  We could go into the Woods or to the Beach, or in my case into the Peace Chamber and simply ask the questions and wait for the answers.

Once we get our yes or no, all other questions or concerns will be addressed.  In the past, I had all my questions lined up……how much will this cost, how much time will it take, who will be involved – on and on.  I felt it was critical to get those questions answered before proceeding.  But last night as I spoke to a group of Sisters I realized we had it backwards.  We need to ask the yes/no question first and then……trust that the resources and time needed will be provided so long as we are in alignment with the Divine….in ourselves.  This is a paradigm shift but I’ve had a little experience with the idea and I know it works.  It just came into sharp focus for me yesterday.  Trust in our Divine guidance is a prerequisite……and the courage to act is another.

Lets have fun!

“Women united in close circle can awaken the wisdom in each other’s hearts.  If in addition we learn to surrender to the ancestors’ guidance, we will learn about our mission together.  As the bringers of life, the Grandmothers say, we have no choice but to join together and raise our voices for humanity and for our Mother Earth, for the sake of the next seven generations to come.”

Are you a part of a women’s wisdom circle?  If not, perhaps its time to find some like minded women and come together in circle to discover your work, your purpose in the world.  It is time and past time for the women to bring their collective wisdom out into the world. Aho!

How do we cope with the feeling of being cut off, of not having roots or healing old ancestral wounds?  I am feeling that deeply today, and just noticing how it makes me feel to consider all the harm that has been done in the oppression of all Native peoples.  How deeply that wound affects all of us, even if we think we didn’t have anything to do with it…..it is part of our consciousness.DavidHewsonthecosmicserpent

Can you examine your own life and see if you are living it in a good way?  In a way that honors the sanctity of all life?  There are places I can improve.  There are questions to ask, and answers to listen for, answers that come from Great Spirit when we are quiet enough to hear.
